marketing

On one of the many domain boards where I do business with domain name owners, I saw a thread where a desperate website owner had shouted out for a .jpg image of a particular thing. Not for this website owner the endless browsing of thousands of images with generously allowed keyword usage. I saw some listingson Namepros.com regarding banners wanted.

Is there a site online where photographer an link to their own online micro stock picture image galleries where their files can be vended for sale? If so, what is the best destination for this and who are the customers who are looking to buy there? Are there particular subject boards where topical items are best promoted there versus other photography forums?

I have developed a backwards engineered strategy of assessing my portfolio of image files and marketing to domain name portfolio managers which names match those images for a partnership for minisites or websites. More and more I am getting the notion this is where the microstock photographer can fashion a client list working online.

Open any magazine and full color images are used. Open any media business report and they say print news media is dying. That means online publications and enterprises are the new money for photography sales. The digital photography discussion boards have a lot of sleek designers, but if so how come I see so many ads for logos?

The answer is simple. The site owners expect to designs and image files to be marketed to them. Why should they parse thousands of images when motivated sellers can come to them?

The cover of Entrepreneur magazine this month has a strategy of tapping into a subculture for developing brand business presence and participating in new technology. So substitute the subculture of photographers and play the digital photography by-commission online microstock technology card and thus a new business industry is born.

I’d like to see figures of how big in dollars that industry is. It might have something to do with the number and complexity of digital camera products hitting the market these days.  Vis a vis my previous entry about the sticky keyword muggle of many micro stock sites and the preference of some commissioners to try and source their own photos online, I find this encouraging.
