The effect of Bigstockphoto on the micropayment market cannot be underestimated. The qualifying quiz, the rules, the instructonal tutorial that seperates the “men” from the boys” set the stage for almost every other microstock site.
BigStockPhoto is a destination site for clients and customers to come together and shop or vend photographic imagery. Having a sales portfolio at BigStockphoto is a mark of “having arrived” on the micropayments scene. But measured against representation of accepted image files at BigStockPhoto must be the sales results. Accepted photos may not always generate revenue.
Sites like BigStockPhoto are absolutely massive forums for images and photos that fit the sales and marketing formula BigStockPhoto.com has modeled its development on. Their selection criteria may feel overly simple or tricky to newcomers to the micropayment scene.
That may not always suit every photographer, even ones with talent.
