Daytrip Opportunity

If you are like me you know that one day, even one half day, of travel, on location, or unique destination photography can make a huge impact on your Microstock portfolio. Locales that are cut off from many transportation routes are especially ideal. If you are like me you also know that affording such time and making it return on investment is challenging. But getting new photo opportunities is in the blood of every microstock shutterbug.
Keep an eye on local air fares and train fares and transportation specials that are constricted around one day flyaway or getaway and next day return. Even if you have seen the local hot spots, architecture residential and landscape microstock opportunities lie everywhere. New buildings, businesses, flows of people and life can be missed because you thought you had been to that city, what, twice?
Train trips can be very illuminating and opportunity filled creative photography junkets. Just the pictures you take wandering around a a stop could make prime spots in your microstock portfolio. I jumped off a Coast Starliner train coming down from Portland to Los Angeles in a city called Paso Robles, California. In 20 minutes I had a folder bulging with editable shots full of color and light, small town vistas and charming travel town landscapes.
Lots of travel sites include places that may have a discovery and resposne value for you, and this will be reflected in the quality of the photos you take. The tenor of such images can have a microstock travel value. Even retail stores and run-of-the-mill locales can have special photo opportunities nobody else thought were there, either. Access is the dynamic the photographer leverages, for potential webmasters and magazine photo editors in future who can’t reach the same place ina cost-efficient timeframe to capture the images themselves.
You might be the only one seeing the new building the day it opens, enjoying the buffet the day the guest chef came, or seeing the arrangement of fruit on a record yield day. A neighborhood might have undergone renovation or local building investment may have enriched heretofore bland shopping blocks. New civic plazas and public accessible art investment make fantastic microstock photo opportunities.
