The online tools most easy to use can reap a lot of value for very little hands on investment. The Kodak Gallery is one I can’t do without. The Kodak Easyshare software comes with a Kodak camera but also should be downloadable online. The flexibility in marketing the Kodak Gallery portion of the application allows uploading and instant login to your Gallery albums from the computer resident program.

By arranging project photos or themes of image sets in the desktop Easyshare program, to upload to separate albums in your KodakGallery.com account allows quick sharing and emailed invitations to view a slideshow of these images. Perhaps a series of images deal with a trip to Walt Disney world, but some albums of the group can be labelled ‘rides” or “snacks” or “gifts” or “souvenirs”. This way source files can be located for different uses fast.

This is a very good security tool for people who want to keep track of which potential client viewed which files. reducing the market and viewing editions of files make it possible for a low cost image vendor to control which person gets a 3,000 by 4,ooo pixel version and which get to see a 4 by 6 inch snapshot view at a much lower resolution.

By resizing the images at variable concentrations and putting the dimensions of any image in the keyword or tag slot, clients can see the variance in file sizes to choose from. They can also check out other albums if they get intrigued by your work. Clients can browse available images, then come back later with a project in mind for their use.

Rename It is a simple utility designed specifically for new computer users who are just starting out. This program allows you to easily rename a file or a file extension.  but Renat can generate entire file lists that allow a muddled upload or mammoth amount of image files to be sorted to require renaming or obscure their content with a generic filename that is hardly likely to be stolen.

Rename It is not only for the new user, more experienced users can utilize Rename It to rename file extensions that Windows Explorer doesn’t support. The new Rename It version features a Massive Rename which can rename many files or extensions easily. this is good for when you have emptied so many

Over time the administration of files becomes so time consuming following any convention for all uploads and file extractions renders some ease of handling. Putting  images into one folder means in 200 days there is no way to sort through and compare filenames.

Name confusion can also result. Three different images might be named “silky234.jpg”, because one is a silky cat, another is a fabric textile, and the last a shot of a dog. Sorting these in numerical order can clean up file name chaos for future location & uploading.
