Micro stock realities include economic realities factored into time spent on work delivered. It is a personal decision if you want to spend all day and all night getting those chicken photo images exactly right. But low cost legal images and profit from same depends on the broadest volume possible for all image categories. So variety is the spice of life. Variety also pays the bills.

The trick inside the microstock image business is to manufacture work product within the smallest window of labor, resources and marketing and promotion. While it may take you 5 minutes to efficiently groom an image file landscaping and/or architecture, it might take another photographer three times that to get a similar result.

Likewise, pet shots might leave you scratching your head while another individual whips ‘em out. While your dream career might shooting nature and animals, your productivity is where the money is at. The more unique your work, the more likely a customer might buy for its uniqueness alone and not the subject matter.

Custom Templates

Templates are grouped image files placed in an ordered infrastructure for installation into content management systems. The CMS often comes with a small selection of template files that correspond to a CMS theme. The theme is a rendering script that displays the graphics, logo, banner image and smaller files into the CMS architecture. Fitting matching images to the dimensions and placement can yield an entire new graphics product.

Themes and templates can change the look of a site without deleting or archiving ads or text articles or other features.Â There is a high demand for unique, one of a kind themes and the graphics to go with them.

The theme files are usually very dense and should be downloaded or mounted into online directory trees via FTP. These FTP files can be sent via email, sold as Electronic Media on EBay, or uploaded onto a hosted free download site for traffic and ad revenue.

Word of Mouth

Having different images printed on a business card out and pinned to bulletin boards and on people’s desks just for fun. Sooner or later someone isÂ going to say “Hey, let me see that.” Checking out the website next, the on your card. Consider printing out a series on glossy stock with different images per page of business cards and pin them up in coffee houses orÂ restaurants.
