Squeezing out that last image capture when the battery light or memory card light is flashing can mean data corruption. It might be the million-dollar shot, but if the elements of the electric equation don’t blend right for the camera to work, the image will never burn in. Carry extra batteries or ruthlessly purge images before reloading your memory card into the camera.

 Learn the default memory resolution and storage settings for your camera. Your resolution may be able to reduce and allow you to capture more mages. This is especially crucial during travel photography, where expense has been taken to get you on foot on front of time-sensitive subject matter. Plot rest and battery/memory trade spots before you head out. You’ll have more feet-on-the-ground productivity.
A pixel is a photoelectric diode. Memorize this fact and you will impress 95% of the people you talk to. The technical details are important at the desktop, and the quality is critical in the endpoint. Dont’ become dependent on anyone showing you how to use the photo editing software, edit images, or doing sharpening or brightening for you. Read the manual, do the work.
Use the DSLR mirror lock to clean your lens. Look for lens debris after storms or you have stored the camera loosely in pockets and satchels. Use a dry Q-tip or contact lens cleaning tissue to air-brush dust and particles out of the lens cavity. Blow lightly, if you think nothing more than dust is there.
If you smell fire or there is a recovery from a blaze nearby, do NOT expose your camera lens to ash!!
Schedule trips to the “doctor†if your camera is burning through batteries too fast or losing light exposure relative to normal fixed settings. A minor internal tweak could save thousands of pictures.
Color calibration management: this allows you to grab the right colors “in the wild†yet ignore the screen version or off-color look of the image when presented on your monitor. CCM means never having to say it’s the wrong blue (red, green) again. Revert to these values when working with editing and photo finishing software. On a cloudy day or amid uncertain light levels, images can get new life after CCM repeal. Photographers can bring the colors “up†for images with great composition and subject matter.
