Photo contests could substantiate your photography resume . If you’ve been sharpening up your work, it may be time for the National Geographic photo contest. That’s right, this is the big time. Nothing complements an image (or a photographer) better than to say (or hear) “That should be in National Geographic”. Choosing which photo to submit can be agony.

Every year, National Geographic’s International Photography Contest draws thousands of spectacular photos from users around the world. This year could be your year—send in your photos for a chance to win a digital camera kit and have your image published in the magazine. Winners will be entered into the Worldwide International Photography Contest.

You can submit up to six photos in three categories—People, Places, and Nature—between now and October 31, 2009. Winners will be announced in early December. There is an entrys fee of U.S. $12 for each photo. Think you have a winning shot? Show us!

NormallyI don’t endorse paid fee photo contests. They feel like a gimmick, like your hard work is sort of a massage for someone else to get my free best product. But imagine how many people could seeyour work if it was pubished in that magazine! This is agreat way to measure your skills submitting photos and judging standards featuef and won.s.
