highsummer

The summer is upon us and few images capture summer as a season like an ice cream cone, a beach scene or a sleeping dog. Animal photography is hardly my forte, yet a sleeping dog is one who can’t budge once I’ve got him in focus. Bright sunlight and leisure time s a summer image and many websites and photo layouts upcoming in microstock sourcing will require these images. Possibly dog lovers would appreciate the sleeping dog napping in broad daylight.

But if I had a choice a lighter color dog would have contrasted in better relief to the lighter background green of the grass. Many snaps of the dog were almost totally obliterated by the black mass. Even in perfect focus the details of the dog’s coat and coloring remained uniformly black and visually uninteresting.

Seasonal changes in art for magazines and websites is a usual publishing trope. Low cost legal images of seasons might seem easy for winter but summer is a little more difficult. Generic beach scenes need to be free of visual artifacts and brightness defects, yet be devoid of copyrighted brands. Model releases yet visual appeal is necessary.

The heat will have put the dog to sleep. The leisure of summer heat and the overwhelming energy enervation has clearly told its tale on this dog. I saw that possibly some children had worn poor Fido out for the morning. His tether at the bench seemed almost pitable except for the dog’s clear intent to pass out on the grass.

This image began when I saw the dog lying tethered to the bench. I was wondering if I  might get a pet interest shot of animal images. the final shot was difficult to interest in because the subject looked very sunken in the grass. almost dead. The contrast border was intended to pick up the color of the leash. The leashing of an animal outside a building unattended was what spiked my notice of the tableau in the first place.

This picture started out as an image for a seasonal microstock site or destination, yet it is likely a pet site or a pet care website would be the most likely final end point now. Finding out the type of breed of dog would help in the index of keywords for this image. I am not unusually in search of animal image files but I may have a new market as summer’s heat increases.
