Stuck for a light to use as a flash but low on budget? Grab a couple of flash cameras at the dollar store and snap for a flash light during an exposure at variable speeds. These can do the work of reflectors in a pinch. Check out the results, making notes regarding what angle and timing you used from the depress.

The battery life inside a camera is very changeable. At low temperature your camera’s computer brain may not work or render a readable LCD message. The memory stick reader may flub its job. The lens assembly may be sluggish, taxing even more battery power to get it working right. A lot of sludgy cold weather shots come from grudging assembly workings.
How your camera works on two high power super charged double AA or Lithium ion+ at hot temperatures fully juiced is a far cry from the cold snap of dying copper tops languishing in twenty five degree cold with a wind chill factor next to gray water. Rubbing up some frictional heat into those jobbies won’t be fun because your hands will be icy stumps at that point.

Evaluate your microstock image portfolio and see where you are weak in showing your skills. Do you have shots of water? Sunlight? Interiors? No abstracts? Too many abstracts? typically freelance photogs stick to their best strengths. It may be that your own camera is stopping you at the pass. Borrow a camera or two and see what shots come more quickly and better.

Even the biggest memory cards get sodden with huge image files you many not have got to editing yet. Using pauses in the feline model shoot, review the “take” and get rid of shots irrelevant due to lack of composition, blur, artifacts, or subjects cut off or outside the frame. These can’t be fixed in editing. If the can be, they will require a lot of time and you might regret it later in the day when you get clipped of a great photo opportunity by a satured memory card. Free up the memory card, since reviewing old images eats time.
