The 5D MarkII – I love it!
I’m am completely salivating!   As most of you are aware Canon announced the successor to the 5d – the 5d Mark II at Photokina last month.
Coming in at 21 Megapixels and inheriting the Full Frame from its predecessor the 5D.
The big drama surrounding the announcement revolves around the newest feature-set to grace Canon’s DSLR line – full HD video!    Now many, many of the true ‘photographers’ out there have denounced the addition.   .. We don’t need video, go buy a video camera, that’s not true photography..etc.. whine…etc.
As a parent and a stock photographer I say Awesome!    This baby is a winner.
Telling me that not only can I now take Full 1920 x 1080 Video of my two kids but also … (and here’s the stock pitch) I’ve now opened up a whole new world of submitting video footage to stock sites.
For quite a while now we’ve heard doom and gloom about the saturation of the microstock and stock photography market.. Well - get your video editing tools ready ladies and gents.
Other highlight features for the new 5DM2 include the new Digic 4 chip, better resolution screen and a new H2 25600 ISO range.
For Stock Photogs we are not too concerned with the high ISO. Most everything we shoot is at 100 anyway.
But it certainly will be nice for those low-light action shots.
The claim is that the new Camera has a much-improved CMOS technology that allows for low noise in high iso. We’ll see when it is released. Delivery is rumored to be late October or November.
And many, many pre-orders are already filled up. Seems Canon has a definte winner on their hands.
