Wedding Photography

No true microstock photographer ever turns down a wedding. If you are going to be out and about attending a wedding in this, June, the patron saint month of weddings, grab a couple of microstock images.Â
Be ready for the candid shot, formal exterior architexture composition, or beauty and fashion shot. Wedding sites need image files. Take an extra memory card. Make sure you have enough batteries. People requesting you email them the pictures might become clients once they see your online photo gallery. And the stiffness and reaction freeze to informal shots will melt after the open bar gets working.
Weddings encompass a lot of photography opportunity. There are the beauty markets, wedding markets, occasion markets, catering and hospitality markets all looking for great pictures to inspire clients. Even a partial shot of an earring, hairstyle, stylist makeup and overall formal dress can provide a focus for cropping and editing. Church lighting and appearance would be at a premium for photography.
Some of your casual table or church side compositions will translate wonderfully into black and white. And hand-coloring (via software) can make a flower or bow tie sing out to observers. The vistas of places where weddings take place are usually chosen because pictures will look great there. Special pains taken for decorations and people’s clothing make outstanding detail shots for fashion and beauty microstock.
And formal photographers often have their hands full with the wedding pary, bride, and wedding photography suite of portraits. Snap some favors, a slice of wedding cake and a crystal glass, or a folded napkin with a set of almonds. The Dress is always important. The dancing kids, and the cutting of the cake. Look for table shots and great images of the band setup. A wedding is a great place to get a model (your guest) to do some posing amid a formal backdrop.
Don’t be afraid to take less than the “perfect picture”. We know brilliance can come from cropping. The view outside picture windows or custom drapery or floral arrangements makes stunning microstock fodder.
But even if you don’t have an interest in submitting microstock images for wedding topics and keywords, the image effects can be surprising and develop your editing and photo finishing skills. The above image looks like a stylized sketch by saving the image file at a much smaller resolution and dimensions and at 24 color bitmap setting before jpg save. The result is a surprising effect and a technique of image rendering I will visit on other photos for evocative impact.
The decorated church and reception hall will appear at its best. The location might be somewhere you never go again. And people will be more photo-ready than anywhere else. Â Sure, you could be just snap-happy. But you could also be fleshing out a suite of saleable microstock images for a wedding brochure or minisite. Even a half dozen great images will enhance any online gallery. Nobody will know!
